Obwalden Pays Subsidies for Feed Additives and Homegrown Feed
Starting this year, farmers in Obwalden can register for three new subsidy programs aimed at promoting climate-friendly agriculture. Other cantons, such as Zug and Nidwalden, are already supporting this type of feeding.
Subsidies for methane-reducing feed (with additives like Agolin and Bovaer) are available for all roughage-consuming livestock units on home farms. A payment of 30 Swiss francs per livestock unit is provided. By 2027, the goal is for 40% of all animals to receive such additives, increasing to 90% by 2035.
